Staying Hydrated for Summer

It is easy to forget to stay hydrated during summer. We are all very busy with a lot of things going on in our lives but as temperatures are rising for summer we must take the time to stay healthy and hydrated. Here are some tips to for staying healthy and hydrated for summer:

– Drink enough water to prevent thirst

-Water is the best choice to drink before and after a short duration workout exercise

-Avoid alcohol (alcohol inhibits a hormone called anti-diuretic hormone. It maintains a constant level in the body and keeps you from peeing out all of the water but when drinking alcohol, the level of this hormone becomes low and you pee more.)

-Eat at least five cups of fruits and vegetables per day as they all contain various levels of water

-Remember to listen to your body if you are spending too much time in the heat. Common dehydration symptoms are dizziness, vomiting, exhaustion, and headaches.
