Happy, Happy, Happy

It’s a beautiful world; we need to teach ourselves to enjoy every minute of it. “Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things.” It’s important to take a step back and realize just how blessed we are in life. Sometimes when we get boggled down, it’s hard to see the ray of sun in the clouds. We can work at seeing the great things in our lives everyday. Like accepting our emotions, we are all human and all need to feel (that’s part of being human and it’s a great action to feel so we can be happy, grateful, or sympathize with others). When you feel an emotion, acknowledge the emotion, feel it, and give it the attention it needs without overdoing it. Try not to allow yourself to feel sadness or disappointment too long so the emotion doesn’t take over the day.

Live in the present; for it is a present! Try not to worry about the past and past mistakes, that’s how we learn and we continue to grow. Be appreciative of the past because you’ve had great experiences and great people in our lives that all teach us something and are all meant to be in our lives for a reason. As for the future, don’t stress about that either. If you’re constantly worrying about the past or future, how are you supposed to fully enjoy today? Try keeping a journal or planner to organize your thoughts and plans for the day- takes away stress from trying to remember everything you have going on and you waste less time knowing exactly what needs to be done and you can designate times for all of it.

Laugh! It truly is one of the best medicines. Tell a good joke or allow yourself to let go and enjoy someone else’s humor. Show others gratitude; not only does it perk up someone else’s day but it also teaches us to have a grateful outlook everyday. Finally, reflect on each day- think about the good, the bad, and how you can improve. Focus on the good stuff so you fall asleep with a grateful, happy mind!
